Billions for Recovery Efforts in Disaster-Stricken States
On June 3, the House of Representatives passed AGC-backed H.R. 2157, the Additional Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief Act of 2019 by a vote of 354-58. On June 6, President Trump signed the measure into law. This legislation will provide $19.2 billion in emergency supplemental funding for recovery efforts and reconstruction in areas of the country stricken by the natural disasters in 2018 and 2019. The bill provides nearly $3.3 billion to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, roughly $1 billion for Flood Control and Coastal Emergencies, and $900 million for recovery efforts in Puerto Rico. The Federal Highway Administration’s emergency relief program will also receive $1.65 billion to repair damaged roads across the country.
