House Committee Passes Water Infrastructure Bill

This bipartisan legislation would authorize 160 new feasibility studies for locally proposed projects and 12 water resource projects.

On June 27, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure passed H.R. 8812, Water Resources Development Act of 2024 (WRDA). This bipartisan bill will help ensure that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Civil Works Program is appropriately responsive to the water resources needs identified by local communities. Specifically, the bill authorizes 160 new feasibility studies for locally proposed projects and 12 water resource projects. WRDA 2024 invests in our harbors and inland waterways, which helps to ensure construction materials make it to the jobsite in a timely manner. On May 22, the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works passed its version, S.4367, of the water infrastructure bill. AGC applauds Congress for their bipartisan efforts to develop the bill and will work with the House and Senate to ensure WRDA 2024 passes this year.
