Rep. Stanton Visits Project in Arizona

On September 3, in partnership with Arizona Builders Alliance and Arizona Chapter-AGC, AGC of America hosted U.S. Representative Greg Stanton for a tour of the South Mountain Freeway.

Also known as “Loop 202,” this freeway will add 22 lane miles to the existing Phoenix metropolitan transportation system. The freeway will connect the east and west valley while providing much-needed relief to existing freeway corridors and local streets. It is estimated to be used daily by up to 190,000 vehicles by 2035. While touring the facility, board members from Arizona Builders Alliance and Arizona Chapter- AGC discussed workforce and infrastructure advancement. Specifically, the group discussed the America’s Transportation Infrastructure Act recently passed by the Senate Environment & Public Work Committee which is a 5-year, $287 billion surface transportation reauthorization bill. The group urged Rep. Stanton and his colleagues on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to follow the Senate’s lead on this critical legislation and pass a highway bill before the 2020 deadline.
