President Trump, House Democrats Renew Calls for Infrastructure Investment as Part of Potential “Phase Four” Economic Recovery Package

President Trump Tweets Renewed Support for a $2 Trillion Infrastructure Package

On March 31, President Trump tweeted renewed support for a $2 trillion infrastructure package as part of potential “phase four” legislation that could be crafted to respond to the negative impact the coronavirus has had on the U.S. economy. On April 1, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi echoed the President’s call for infrastructure investment in further COVID-19 response legislation, stating that House Democrats would intend to build upon their Moving Forward Framework and invest $760 billion over five years in a variety of infrastructure programs. As the conversation around a “phase four” coronavirus package takes shape, AGC looks forward to working with Congress and the Administration to ensure that proper policies are enacted and investments are made to further safeguard the industry and its markets over the course of this pandemic.
