During the tour, the group noted that while the federal government invests $120 billion a year in higher education funding, only about $4 billion is spent for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) training programs and Career and Technical Education (CTE) funding. They also discussed the 2019 AGC survey which found that that 84 percent of state contractors in Texas are having “a hard time filling some or all positions.” AGC urged Rep. Cloud to support solutions to the workforce shortage and cosponsor H.R. 3497 Jumpstart Our Businesses by Supporting Students Act of 2019.
