AGC PAC Endorses Steve Daines for U.S. Senate

The Associated General Contractors of America Political Action Committee, also known as the AGC PAC, announced today that it has endorsed Steve Daines for the United States Senate. AGC PAC officials said they are supporting the senator’s campaign because of his strong pro-construction record.

“Steve Daines has distinguished himself as a serious leader with a proven track record of fighting unreasonable regulations, supporting much-needed tax reforms, and pursuing critical economic relief for businesses during the pandemic,” said Stephen E. Sandherr, the association’s chief executive officer. “The senator has proven that he will stand up and fight for what is right when it comes to protecting our economy, our workers and our country.”

Sandherr noted that the association’s political action committee is endorsing Senator Daines because of his long involvement with his family’s construction firm, which has allowed him to better understand the needs and concerns of the industry. He added that the senator was instrumental in providing tax relief for construction firms as part of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The senator also introduced the Main Street Tax Certainty Act, which includes permanent tax relief for many construction firms. And he helped secure millions in needed funding to restore America’s national parks and public lands.

In addition to endorsing Senator Daines, AGC PAC has contributed the maximum amount of $10,000 to his campaign. AGC PAC is also encouraging the association’s members in Montana to help turn out the construction vote in support of the senator in the general election on November 3.

“Steve Daines grew up in the industry and appreciates the work Montana’s contractors do to build our state’s economy. As a senator, he supported workforce development initiatives by introducing the Expanding Access to Apprenticeships Act, and most recently, introduced the Paycheck Protection Flexibility Act, which will help construction firms keep their workers employed,” said David Smith, executive director of the Montana Contractors Association. He added, “Senator Daines has the backs of Montana’s contractors, and our industry needs him in the U.S. Senate for another six years.

AGC is the association for the commercial construction industry, with hundreds of member companies in its two Iowa chapters, representing general and specialty contractors, service providers, and suppliers. This endorsement comes from AGC PAC, the national association’s political action committee.
